An environmental business leader with over 18 years' experience in oil, gas, and renewables, her passion is transforming the integrated North American energy system, through low carbon technologies and projects.


Much of her career has been focussed on climate change and low carbon energy. While working in The Hague for Shell International B.V., she advised Shell's most senior executives on climate change risks associated with the company's  business strategies. Upon her return to Canada, she was responsible for developing climate change and energy policy positions for all Shell businesses in Canada, and was also the Business Manager for Carbon Abatement. In this role she was responsible for Shell's renewable energy portfolio and strategy within Heavy Oil.


Meera graduated from Queen's University with a Bachelor's degree in Geological Environmental Engineering in 1995 and started her career at Shell as a geologist. Her work has been presented at the International Association of Impact Assessment. She was also the founder and chairperson of Engineers for a Sustainable Future, an international organization that was based in The Netherlands, and is the President of her local community association.
